At the height of her Biggest Loser fame, Australia’s most well-known fitness queen, Michelle Bridges romantic life thrived as one half of show business’ hottest couple when she was dating her co-star Steve ‘Commando’ Wilis.
It was a true love story when they fell in love on set and then welcomed their beloved son Axel in 2015.
However, as much as people find love, they too often lose it, and when Michelle and Comando broke up sometime in 2020, Australia’s fitness couple was no longer.
Michelle, 50, knows all too well how complicated love can be, and although her relationship timeline has had a few roadblocks, she has managed to swerve them on her way to finding her inner strength.
The personal trainer, who is undeniably besotted by her son Axel, five, is continuing to living her best life, motivating other Australians to embrace fitness.
We look at Michelle’s turbulent romantic past – no doubt, she’s only grown stronger
Commando
Michelle and Commando famously met on Channel 10‘s TV series The Biggest Loser, and they stepped out as an official item in May of 2013.
In the early days, their relationship was fraught with controversy because both Michelle and Comando announced they were leaving their long-term partners just months apart from each other, which, as expected, inspired rumours that the fitness lovers had an affair.
Even though they denied the allegations, the Australian public was unconvinced that they were clear of any wrongdoings.
If things weren’t complicated enough, Commando revealed to Woman’s Day in 2013 that he reconciled with estranged wife, Froso.
“He wanted to do the right thing by his family,” an exclusive source told us at the time, adding that the romantic four-week trip to Europe he had planned to take with Michelle, he ended up going on with Froso and the kids.
Then just like a messy romcom, Commando had emotional whiplash and decided his heart was with Michelle.
“Commando was absolutely in love with Michelle, and going on a trip with Froso that he had planned to take with Michelle confirmed to him that Mish was the one,” the source said.
Everything seemed good for the couple after the wild start to their relationship, with them moving in together, having a baby and going to events together.
But in 2020, Michelle admitted that they had parted ways.
She confirmed the break-up in a statement after being caught drink-driving on Australia Day while Axel was in the car with her.
“I would like to express my deep regret for breaking the law, this was a terrible mistake and an error of judgment,” Michelle said in a statement to The Daily Telegraph.
“This behaviour is inexcusable, and I am absolutely devastated and embarrassed to find myself in this position.
“It has been a very difficult time for me the last few weeks dealing with the break-up of my long-term relationship. This is by no means an excuse for my behaviour, but I feel the emotional turmoil I have been going through has impacted my decision making. I am extremely sorry for my actions.”
Bill Moore
Before Commando came into Michelle’s life, she was married to a gym owner and fellow personal trainer, Bill Moore.
In 1999 Bill and Michelle decided to become business partners, and then in 2003, they decided to take things to the next level by getting married.
However, their nine-year marriage came to a halt in 2013 when they decided to divorce, and weeks later, Michelle stepped out as an official item with Commando.
In a tell-all interview aired on ABC’s Australian Story, Bill spoke out about the end of their relationship and admitted the couple lost sight of what’s important.
“It was a very difficult time…I felt like I didn’t want to leave the relationship. I didn’t want it to end,” said Bill. “But Michelle, for her, she wasn’t in the same space.
“Our relationship was suffering from it, and really in hindsight, we probably both chose the business over the relationship.
“Maybe that was the baby we didn’t have,” he said.
Even though it seems like the end of their relationship was a dark time for Bill, he was able to put any feelings of animosity behind him to continue to have an amicable relationship with Michelle, and they even remained business partners.
Michelle’s rumoured 2021 romance
After a rough year, Michelle may have finally found a special someone to make her smile again.
According to Woman’s Day, the fitness trainer is seeing her close companion and co-worker, Todd Liubinskas, 36, who has bought her some happiness and stability.
The cute fitness director who lives in Sydney is believed to have known Michelle since 2016, and on her social media, Todd has been seen calling the TV star “Mishy” and cheekily joking that they are “one team, one dream.”
In return, the mother-of-one refers to Todd as “one of Australia’s best trainers.”
Although they haven’t made anything official, it is clear they have undeniable chemistry in their fitness tip videos that they stream on social media.
