As one of the most decorated Olympians of all time, we’d guess it would be pretty hard for Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps to keep anything from his legions of fans – but we’ve been proved wrong!
The 31-year-old’s most recent gold comes in the form of a wedding band – one that he successfully managed to keep secret for four months.
WATCH: Michael Phelps married in June. Post continues…
Michael and now-wife Nicole Johnson are reportedly married, having tied the knot back in June, meaning when the swimmer won five golds and one silver medal at the Rio Olympics this summer, the pair were already wed.
Phelps hasn’t been seen wearing a ring yet, which is perhaps why speculation has been kept to a minimum.
People magazine obtained a copy of the record of marriage, and it revealed that they tied the knot on June 13 in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
The couple announced their engagement in February 2015, and the swimmer took to Instagram at the time to announce the happy news. “She said yes,” he captioned the loved-up image.
In August, while in Rio, Nicole spoke about her wedding plans, saying: “We have a date. It’ll be small and intimate for the wedding, and then we’re throwing a massive bash for everyone in the States.”
The 31-year-old has also been posted wedding-related Instagram snaps, so it seems likely that the pair are still planning their “massive bash”.
Michael and Nicole, who have a five-month-old son, Boomer, are quick to share pictures of their family life on social media, so we’re shocked that their marriage news stayed under the radar for so long – but we can’t wait to see pictures!
Congratulations to the happy couple!
