Michael Clarke has appeared after footage arguing over a cheating scandal with his girlfriend was leaked, and his approach to addressing the conflict set in stone.
The former cricketer was seen having a public argument with his girlfriend, Jade Yarbrough who accused Michael of cheating on December 17, 2022, with his previous fling Pip Edwards.
In the leaked footage sold to The Daily Telegraph for a reported $10,000, Jade can be seen slapping Michael.
While speaking on the radio program The Big Sports Breakfast with co-hosts Gerard Middleton and Laurie Daley, a listener called in calling Michael a “hero”.
“My hero is Clarkey for being discreet in what happened, and my villain is the person that filmed it and sold to the media,” the listener said.
Michael was seemingly stunned by the comment, when his co-host Gerard stepped in.
“It is a private matter that Clarkey’s obviously been dealing with, a very, very private matter which unfortunately was made public,” Gerard said.
“There’s a lot of factors in play here and Clarkey’s made his statement last week and due to all the factors in play we are moving forward on The Big Sports Breakfast this morning.”
Despite apparently “moving forward”, Gerard could not help but pointing out the significant bruise on Michael after sustaining a hamstring injury outside a restaurant in Noosa on January 10.
It is suggested Michael tore his hamstring during the argument, as the footage showed him limping after being dragged to the ground by Jade.
“I want to ask you, you showed us before that bruise on your hamstring, that is incredible mate,” Gerard said. “You won’t be able to walk properly for weeks.”
However, Michael shrugged off the comment and insisted he was “on the mend.”
Following the leaked footage, Michael told The Daily Telegraph: “I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions.”
A comment from Jade is yet to be made, but the couple have been fined for public nuisance after their fight.
