The pair’s closeness at Warnie’s memorial last month was palpable, with Kyly, 40, proving to be a strong support for an emotional Michael, 41, who paid a touching tribute to his cricketing mate.

Following the special event, the friendly exes were spotted jetting back into Sydney together, with a source confirming to Woman’s Day that Kyly’s presence is helping Michael heal from the loss of one of his best friends.

“They’ve come on in leaps and bounds, and they’re slowly forming a really close bond again,” adds the insider, who notes Michael would be lost without Kyly right now.

The cricket icon paid tribute to his late mate Shane at his state memorial at the end of March, as well as in the days after the news of his death broke.

Just one day after, Michael appeared on the Today Show to share his memories of “Warnie” and broke down on live TV as he remembered his friend.

“No more crying,” he said through tears. “It will be hard [at his funeral] … I’m sure he will get the send off that he deserves but I don’t think I will ever say goodbye.”

As promised, Michael was front and centre at Shane’s state funeral on March 30 with Kyly by his side.

The Clarkes met at a Cronulla bar in 2007 and tied the knot in 2012, welcoming daughter Kelsey lee in 2015.

But rumours of tension in the marriage cropped up in 2018 and persisted into 2019, with the couple confirming their split in 2020.

Determined to co-parent their daughter in the best way possible, Kyly and Michael have remained close since their split and continue to respect and support one another.

“Kelsey Lee is our priority, so we’re just doing everything that is in her best interest. Her happiness is paramount,” Kyly told the Kyle and Jackie O Show recently.
