Last week, the former cricketer Michael Clarke and his wife Kyly welcomed their baby girl into the world.
Kelsey Lee was due closer to Christmas Day, but was born five weeks early, via an emergency caesarean at the Prince of Wales hospital.
“It’s happened a lot sooner than we expected but it is as exciting as I thought,” the 34-year-old told Nine News on Monday.
The proud papa spoke of his two girls during a press conference where he revealed his wife and daughter were doing well, despite Kelsey being in special care for the past week.
“Both my girls are doing really well,” Michael gushed.
“Obviously my daughter’s still in hospital and will be for a little while…and my beautiful wife is doing fantastic,”
“So we’re both over the moon,” he concluded with a smile.
The new dad also chatted to Seven News about how he can’t wait to take his little girl home.
“Both Kyly and I are very happy and I wish our little girl was at home at our house but she’s in great hands and she’s being looked after well in hospital,” he admitted.
“It’s obviously been a real special week for us.”
While we are yet to see who Michael and Kyly’s bundle of joy takes after, the couple have released one stunning image of their baby girl.
The parents took to Instagram to announce the name of their daughter.
They shared a black and white photo of their little girl’s tiny hand intertwined with their fingers, with both of their wedding rings visible in the stylised shot.
Kyly, 34, also took a moment to thank all the well-wishers for their kind words.
“Our little angel is just divine, such a superstar. One proud Mumma and Papa. Thank you to everyone for all your very kind messages.”
