His dulcet tones have won him many fans over the years and his Christmas album will forever be a classic, but Michael Bublé has announced that he is retiring from music.
The Canadian crooner revealed that following his son Noah’s cancer diagnosis, things were put into perspective for him and he no longer wants to pursue fame.
“I’m retiring from the business. I’ve made the perfect record and now I can leave at the very top,” he revealed.
Noah was diagnosed with with liver cancer in October 2016 and both Michael and his wife, Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato put their careers on hold to be with him through his treatment.
“It’s been such a difficult exercise. It hurts me, and it hurts to talk about Noah because it’s not my story to tell, it’s his,” he told The Daily Mail.
“But my whole being’s changed. My perception of life. I don’t know if I can even get through this conversation without crying. And I’ve never lost control of my emotions in public.”
The 43 year-old hitmaker revealed that the diagnosis made him “want to die” and challenged him in more ways than he thought.
“Going through this with Noah, I didn’t question who I was, I just questioned everything else. Why are we here? Is this all there is? Because if this is all there is, there has to be something bigger.”

The Haven’t Met You Yet singer also revealed that whilst his accounts are still active for promotional purposes, he himself has stepped away from social media.
“I decided I’d never read my name again in print, never read a review, and I never have. I decided I’d never use social media again, and I never have.”
Thankfully, Noah is in remission and the family recently welcomed daughter Vida to the world. And it’s clear that his family will always be number one over his career.
“Family is what matters. The health of my children is number one. The relationship with my family, my wife, my faith — all of it is easily number one,” Michael previously told The Herald Sun.
