Meryl Streep recently said goodbye to her dear friends Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds as they were laid to rest side-by-side at their Beverly Hills compound. She paid homage to the stars by delivering a eulogy.
Today, just a few days after their memorial service, she was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Golden Globes and took to take the stage again.
She closed her powerful speech with a Fisher quote:
“As my friend, the dear, departed Princess Leia, said to me, ‘Take your broken heart, make it into art.'”
It seems fitting for the sharp-witted Fisher to be honoured in this way. Streep has won eight Golden Globes over the course her esteemed career.
A beautiful tribute to Reynolds and Fisher was also shown during the ceremony and we’re sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
