Megan Gale has returned to the runway for the first time in 15 years.
The Aussie model walked for the David Jones AW23 Runway at Melbourne Fashion Festival over the weekend.
Last week David Jones shared the exciting announcement on Instagram, writing, “we are proud to welcome Megan, a home-grown icon who first joined the David Jones family in 2001, back to the runway as we celebrate 185 Years of Inspiration.”
47-year-old Megan was first signed as the brand ambassador of the Australian retailer in 2001, representing the brand both on and off the catwalk. The partnership spanned almost 15 years before ending in 2014 and was one of Australia’s longest-serving fashion contracts.
“It has been 15 years since I last walked the catwalk, that was for Autumn Winter 2008….it feels like it was yesterday,” she told the Herald Sun.
“It is quite extraordinary how much time has passed and what has happened with David Jones and also myself and my own life.”
“It just feels really lovely to come together for such an important milestone and it was an absolute honour to be asked.”
In 2015, Megan told The Australian Women’s Weekly that she would leave modelling all together if she was forced into cosmetic procedures in order to get work.
Megan’s fiancé, former AFL player and Australian Survivor contestant, Shaun Hampson was sat in the front row to watch her runway return.
Since stepping away from modelling, Megan has been focusing on her family life with Shaun.
The couple, who met in 2011 and were engaged in 2017, have two children.
In May 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named River. They welcomed their daughter Rosie in September 2017.
