Baby might be on the brain, but wedding bells are officially ringing for Bachelor golden couple Matty J and Laura Byrne as they announce their surprise engagement to the world.
The season 5 couple took to their Instagram accounts on Sunday evening to announce the exciting news, with an adorable video showing Matty getting down on one knee as Laura looks shocked, and then ecstatic.

Captioning the video posted to his account, the chuffed groom-to-be wrote: “There’s absolutely no one else I’d rather grow old and senile with. I can’t wait to start a family together and now I can’t wait to be your husband! ❤️💍”
Meanwhile, Laura also shared a sweet picture of the pair, as well as her sizeable sparkler to her own Instagram account, writing: “You are my favourite everything @matthewdavidjohnson. YES to a lifetime of love and flamboyant dance moves with you my honey 💍❤️”

Fans and friends have flocked to share their congratulations with the happy couple, with fellow influencer Jade Tunchy writing: “I’m so happy for you two 😍😍😍 that ring is gorgeous! Congratulations lovers”
Meanwhile, Bachelor season 1 star Anna Heinrich also shared her well wishes, writing: “Congrats!!! X”
Fellow contestant in Laura and Matty’s season of the Bachelor, and now close friend of the couple, Florence Alexandria also shared her excitment on Instagram, writing: “YESSSSSSSS HE DID IT!!!!!!!!!! IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU TWO♥️♥️♥️ You’re one lucky man Matt!”
In December, the couple shared the news that they were expecting their first baby together, and their excitement has been clear ever since.
The couple again used Instagram to make their big reveal, sharing a picture of the pair on a beach holding a sonogram and looking well and truly over the moon.
“I’m so bad at keeping secrets so I’m EXTREMELY excited to let everyone know, we are having a little baby! @ladyandacat I love you more than words can describe and I can’t wait to start our family together. WE ARE GOING TO BE PARENTS!!,” wrote Matty.
Meanwhile, Laura took to her own account, writing: “WE ARE HAVING A BABY🎉 👶🏻 !!!!Old mate @matthewdavidjohnson and I are beyond excited to finally be able to share that I’m cooking an orange sized baby Johnson-Byrne. Happy doesn’t even come close ❤️”
Since the pair shared their exciting news, we’ve been treated to a plethora of baby-related content from the pair, the latest of which was a dreamy baby-moon in Fiji.
Jewellery designer Laura looked to be having the time of her life with her now rotund baby bump looking cuter than ever as she shared pics of the pair lazing around at the beach and poolside.
The beautiful setting certainly posed the perfect opportunity for the pair to make things official!

In March, Matty and Laura also celebrated their new addition with a lavish baby shower at Sydney’s Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel.
With a plethora of delicious food, reality TV alum and enough balloons for several hundred birthday parties, there’s no denying this Bachelor couple were well and truly celebrating in style.

Laura has also been refreshingly frank about the realities of pregnancy – often taking to her Instagram to share her highs and lows.
Earlier this year, Laura shared a candid update after attempting to go to the gym, confessing that she had to take a two hour nap after her efforts!
Later, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph Laura had us cheering when she said: “I have no intention of over exerting myself or expecting too much from myself. I will enjoy the nine months and if I feel like I want to get back in shape after I will do it then.”
What’s more, Matty was completely on-board with her: “If you want to eat a packet of biscuits, do it. I’ve never seen Laura look sexier,” he said.
