Matthew Perry revealed some shocking news on Jimmy Kimmel last night.
He’s half-Canadian!
Oh, and also he punched Justin Trudeau.
This story is a roller coaster.
When Perry was in 5th grade, he went to the same school with everyone’s favourite prime minister. In Canada. This is honestly blowing our minds.
Although Perry was a few years above Trudeau, he said his friend reminded him that the pair beat up the future leader, although the reason why was hazy.
“I don’t know… I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren’t, so it was pure jealousy,” the Friends alum told Kimmel. “I think he was the only kid in school that we could beat up.”
Trudeau’s dad was actually the prime minister at the time, but because Canada is the personification of a giant teddy bear, there wasn’t any secret service to whisk the pair away to Siberia.
Perry insists he deeply regrets his behaviour.
“You know, I’m not bragging about this, this is terrible. I was a stupid kid, I didn’t want to beat him up. In fact, I think at one point I tried to turn it into love play.”
Which makes a lot more sense, because Chandler would never get in a fight.
Perry also thinks the incident was instrumental to Trudeau’s rise to power.
“I think he said, ‘I’m gonna rise above this and I’m gonna become prime minister.’”
No word yet from Trudeau if his version of events was Perry being beaten up instead. I mean, you should always see the other guy.
