Mary Fowler first played for Australia at 15 and she’s been winning the hearts of Aussies ever since.
Although everyone is wondering, why does she have gloves on?
Many have assumed it was only when she played in England for Manchester City due to the cold weather.
Why does Fowler wear gloves then?
Although, as we’ve seen, people are surprised she’s still wearing them during the FIFA World Cup 2023.
Fowler revealed to Optus Sport that it’s just because she gets fidgety.
“I honestly just like gloves because I get really fidgety. So usually I train with a ring on but if it’s cold I wear gloves and I can’t wear a ring in a match so I usually wear gloves.”
Could Mary Fowler be the next Sam Kerr?
People tend to look past that Mary Fowler is the youngest play on Matilda’s squad and it’s her second World Cup at only 20.
Even she forgets what she has accomplished with how fast her career is moving.
“I feel like the only time I really reflect on it all is when I’m writing it down…I just wrote down the last five years pretty much what I’ve done just to give myself a bit of perspective on where I’m at.”
Sam Kerr’s injury resulting in absence from games has led to Fowler stepping up within the squad and added a tremendous amount of pressure on her.
As far as we know, she seems to be fitting in perfectly and following very closely in Sam Kerr’s footsteps
All we can say is the girls played an amazing game last night and what they’ve accomplished is a big enough achievement.
As for Fowler, we have no doubt she’ll be making more history soon enough.
