Fans were beyond shocked Sharon Marsh and Nick Furphy – the last pair still going strong after the latest season of Married At First Sight – ended their relationship last month.

In the wake of the split, Shaz took off to Bangkok for some much-needed “me” time – but she got in touch with OK! mag exclusively from her holiday hideaway and revealed the truth about why the pair parted ways.

Despite their connection on the show, Shaz and Nick split last month.

Sharon – whose twin sister Michelle joined her on MAFS – says that while the two had great chemistry, she was constantly questioning whether they were truly in love.

“We connected, we had chemistry. Does that mean we are soul mates and forever lovers?” Shaz asked. “That was my question and the only way I was going to get that answer was for one of us to sacrifice everything and move for the other.”

After six months of trying to make a long-distance relationship work, the 32-year-old finally took the plunge, packing up her life and moving to Melbourne to be with Nick – but her reluctance to move sooner should’ve been a red flag, Shaz admits.

“This timeframe in itself was alarm bells.”

Even though Sharon and Nick were the last couple left standing from the latest season of the reality TV series, Shaz says she had her doubts.

“I realise if you are truly in love with someone and want to commit to them, you will make it happen,” Sharon tells OK!. “You will do it NOW, because you don’t want to be another day without them. I made excuses why I couldn’t move,” she admits.

Shutting down her business in Perth and leaving her family and friends behind was tough for Shaz.

But the goal was to establish whether she could build a long-term future with Nick while they support each other in their day-to-day lives. It didn’t work out as the pair hoped.

“I tried and I have no regrets,” says Shaz. And apparently, neither does Nick, who reposted one of Sharon’s Insty snaps following the split, showing the pair in happier times. “#noregrets #friends,” he captioned his sweet post.
