When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced they were divorcing in September almost nobody saw the split coming and the rumour mill went into overdrive to find reasons for the shock separation.
It wasn’t long before some were suggesting that the breakup had something to do with Brad’s relationship with Allied co-star, Marion Cotillard.

In the WWII romantic thriller Cotillard and Pitt play undercover spies who fall in love – a perfect plot for gossipers to spin into Mr and Mrs Smith 2.0 scenario that would see Pitt leave another wife for an attractive co-star.
But in an interview on Thursday with America’s Today the 41-year-old French actress said that talk she and the 52-year-old Fight Club star were an item didn’t phase her in the least.
“I never take anything personally when it doesn’t concern me,” Cotillard told Today’s Matt Lauer. “And so I didn’t take it personally because I had nothing to do with those rumours or situations.”
Marion said that the gossip has not impacted her friendship with Pitt or her memories of working on the film.
“I don’t give energy to this,” said Marion. “It was a wonderful, wonderful experience working with such a visionairy director [Robert Zemeckis] and an amazing actor, so that’s all that matters, you know?”

In the days following Angelina Jolie’s decision to file for divorce – citing “irreconcilable differences” – Marion used a September 21 Instagram post to confirm she was expecting her second child with partner Guillaume Canet and quell the hostility some fans had toward her.
“Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need,” she wrote.
Adding: “Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.”
It has since been widely speculated that Brad and Angelina separated following a drunken incident on a plane between Brad and his eldest son, Maddox.
The father-of-six has since been cleared of all abuse claims and the actor is now requesting that he gets joint custody of the couples children, reports TMZ.
