Mariah Carey’s festive anthem, All I Want for Christmas Is You, may have first hit airwaves 22 years ago. But you’ll still be hard pressed to find a Christmas playlist that doesn’t count the familiar jingle among its tracks.
And now, the classic holiday tune will be adapted into an animated film – to be released during this year’s silly season.
The multihyphenate talent took to Twitter to announce the exciting news with a video teaser, saying: “My song is becoming a movie! You’re the first to hear about this exciting news!”
“Every holiday season, there are traditions we can’t live without,” the epic teaser begins.
Next up, the 46-year-old can be seen stretched out comfortably on a beige sofa. She’s dressed in a festive pyjama onesie, with a whoppingly large amount of diamonds strewn across her neck. As a fireplace roars in the background, Mimi cuddles up closely to her pooch, adorably named Jill E. Beans.
While the plot of the film is yet to be announced eagle-eyed fans have picked up on a clue hidden within the clip. Next to Mimi is the 2015 book adaptation of the song, which seems to indicate that it will serve as the basis for the upcoming flick.
The book, in case you missed it, told the story of a young girl whose Christmas wish is to get a new puppy – adorable!
The film will be produced by Universal Pictures and will be available for purchase prior to Christmas Day.
We’re guessing that Mimi’s five-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, can’t wait for the films release!
The happy family-of-three were recently spotted as they dropped by the Lego Batman movie premiere at the Regency Village Theatre in California.
The “Without You” hitmaker stars in the highly-anticipated movie, lending her voice to the character of Mayor McCaskill.
The proud mama went for a dazzling casual look, rocking a pair of jeans teamed with a sequined bomber jacket.
Young Monroe looked very sweet in floral dress, while her brother Moroccan wore a mini tuxedo.
Mimi, who shares her kids with ex-husband Nick Cannon, took to Instagram to share her excitement about the red carpet event.
“On our way to the #LEGOBatmanMovie premiere. See you soon! ❤,” she penned alongside a picture of herself and Monroe in the backseat of a car.
TOO cute!
