Mariah Carey has told of the totally unfortunate downsides of having such a ginormous engagement ring.
The Hero singer, who said ‘yes’ to a wedding proposal from Aussie billionaire James Packer less than two weeks ago, recently joked with reporters that her 35-carat diamond was “so heavy I can’t lift my arm up! … It’s a nice chunk.”
And it seems James, 48, wasn’t simply content with presenting his new fiancée with a giant rock because as Mariah told E!, the actual proposal was something to gush about.
“It was very romantic,” she said. “He’s an exceptional person and really … it gets more romantic by the day, so it’s very sweet.”
But unlike her ring Mariah, 45, says her wedding will be a smaller affair, after all this will be the third marriage for both of them (and those nuptials were blow-outs).
“We are not doing a big wedding because he did two big weddings, and it’s kind of like, I’ve done a big wedding …We would rather make it beautiful but humble,” said Mariah.
Mimi also hinted that she’s already looking at gowns.
“I am very excited about the dress, but I don’t want to talk about it yet, as I have to have my first fitting,” she said.
At her first 1993 wedding to music exec Tommy Mottola Mariah reportedly had her gown custom made to be a replica of Princess Diana’s famous wedding gown.
So yes, it would be nice to keep the wedding “humble” for a change.
