Famous Vegas casino Caesars Palace announced this week that Mariah would headline a series of shows at The Colosseum – the casino’s epic 4000-seat theatre, kicking off in May this year.

The show has been named ‘MARIAH CAREY #1s,’ and will feature the singer performing her all 18 of her No. 1 singles, includingWe Belong Together,HeroandVision of Love.

As one of the all-time best-selling musical acts there’s Mariah is practically guaranteed to draw in the crowds – a prospect that no doubt has casino owners eyes lighting up with dollar signs!

So far there have been 18 shows announced – which is considered a long-term run for the 44-year-old diva to book in any single venue. It doesn’t come close to Celine Dion’s record run on the Vegas strip though which has gone on for years – with reports that the Canadian star has signed a contract to stay on board until 2019.

It’s not clear whether Mariah has intentions of signing such a long-term deal herself however it’s thought that this year’s series of shows could be a trial run for a longer term booking – such as the two-year deal signed by pop star Britney Spears.

Britney Spears and Celine Dion are both currently reaping massive financial rewards from long-term runs on the Vegas strip.

Many also commented that Mariah’s vocals were slipping during her recent tour of Tokyo, in which she also apparently dissed her estranged husband Nick Cannon, dropping hints that he’s been cheating. Nick confirmed in August that the pair were living apart.

First though, it waits to be seen whether Mariah’s voice will last the distance of such a demanding show-schedule. The diva has recently come under criticism for failing to hit the high notes like she used to.

Singing her smash-hit cover version of the classic All I want for Christmas at the famous Rockefeller Centre Christmas concert last year, Mariah, 44, sounded rather off-key – especially when audio of her isolated locals was leaked.

If anything the Vegas shows should keep the diva busy and not wallowing post-divorce!
