It’s been a busy year for songbird Mariah Carey, who is currently travelling and performing in packed out venues around the world on her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, but has the star has bitten off more than she can chew?
With her demanding schedule, an upcoming reality TV show, heavy touring dates and glamorous celebrity appearances, the 46-year-old has little time to spare for her hubby-to-be and his family. And it seems like mummy Packer is putting her foot down.
The couple’s impending wedding – which has previously been reported to have cost a whopping $100 million – has been put on hold “indefinitely” according to a report from Sydney Morning Herald.
Sources close to the couple explained that while 77-year-old managed to slap on a smile for her son following his hasty engagement to the We Belong Together singer, Roslyn is now beginning to struggle with the idea of their impending nuptials. The insider added that there’s a personality clash between the “very different women”.
“Ros is a woman raised in the country with very traditional values who has maintained a dignified silence for all the years she and Kerry were in the spotlight … Mariah is all bells, whistles and flashbulbs … they are very different women,” said a long-term family friend to Private Sydney this week.
Whilst it’s true Mariah and the billionaire-tycoon are all smiles when the cameras flash, celeb spotters are picking up on the finer details, which have indicated a potential rift between the spouses-to-be.
James has been absent from Mariah’s Instagram feed, with no photos of the two together since New Year’s Eve. And earlier this month, the mother-of-two made comments about her fiancés disinterest in her career.
“He’s a legit businessman. It’s not really his thing to be, like, traipsing all over Europe and hanging out with all my crew and dancers and singers,” she told The New York Times.
Both Mariah and James are yet to comment on the claims, however last week the songstress spoke to The Sunday Times’ Style magazine, indicating they’re far from wedded bliss.
“If I start talking about this relationship, people will interpret it in their own way, so I think it’s safer for everyone involved to just not talk about the very personal aspects.”
