She’s one of Australia’s most famous and beloved exports but after a series of box-office flops, sources say Margot Robbie’s confidence has taken a knock and it’s slipping over into her personal life.

Onlookers couldn’t help but notice the 32-year-old had ditched her wedding ring when she was spotted leaving pal Cara Delevingne’s home in New York with an ashen-faced husband Tom Ackerley, also 32, prompting some to speculate the star’s professional life could be putting a strain on their six-year marriage.

“There’s a lot of pressure behind the scenes and there’s no doubt this will be spilling over into her marriage,” a Hollywood insider reveals. “Tom has to take a lot of the blame as he’s her number one advisor and producer, so things aren’t exactly happy at home.”

Margot’s latest movie Babylon, alongside Brad Pitt, 59, is a box office flop, while her previous project Amsterdam was critically panned. “Looks like her five minutes are up,” one commenter wrote cruelly online. “It has not been her year,” added another.

And a movie insider confirms it’s absolute chaos in Margot’s camp right now.

DAMAGE CONTROL

“Margot’s team has gone into crisis mode because she’s not making the studios enough money,” says a film insider.

“No one can believe Babylon hasn’t done well – it was supposed to be the movie that got her onto the Oscars podium. Now there are very real questions being asked about whether or not she’s the big leading lady everyone thought she was – even with Brad Pitt as her co-star she’s not drawing ticketgoers.”

ASPEN ANTICS

The star was certainly drawing stares when she was snapped letting off steam with a group of friends in Aspen last week, her husband nowhere to be seen.

The snowy funfest came weeks after she suffered online backlash from fans after revealing she snuck an unscripted kiss with Brad into Babylon, because it was her only “chance” to kiss him.

Margot was forced to clarify that she and Brad “established our boundaries… because it’s a movie that pushes boundaries in a lot of ways”.

But even with boundary-pushing flicks, the buzz has certainly died down around the former Neighbours star.

“There’s no doubt the excitement about Margot in Hollywood has plateaued, which is totally normal for an actress and while Margot knows she’s being silly she can’t help feeling a little sensitive about it all,” says a source, with insiders adding she is hanging all her hopes on her next movie, Barbie.

“There’s a lot riding on it, she needs a big hit,” says the source. “After Amsterdam, Babylon was supposed to be that.”
