Australian actresses Margot Robbie, 24, and Rose Byrne, 35, are the frontrunners to play Princess Mary of Denmark in a new miniseries next year.
Earlier this month, Channel 10 confirmed it was bringing the story of Mary’s life to the small screen.
Titled Mary: The Making of a Princess, the production is being produced by Fremantle Media Australia – and according to the Gold Coast Bulletin – local girl, Margot, who recently starred in The Wolf of Wall Street is among the contenders to play the Tasmanian-born royal.
Mary Donaldson famously met Crown Prince Frederik during the Sydney Olympics at a pub. Four years later the couple were married. They now have four children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent.
The miniseries is expected to be shot next year in Australia and Denmark.

Margot has proven her acting skills and her popularity in Hollywood might be a draw card for producers of the miniseries.
Rose Byrne certainly has the style to match Princess Mary. Here she is in Vivienne Westwood at the 2012 Oscars.
The 35-year-old is also closer in age to Mary, 42.
