After two years of marriage, Marc Anthony, 48, has officially filed for divorce from his estranged wife, Shannon De Lima, 28.
According to TMZ, the singer has claimed that their two-year marriage is “irretrievably broken”, but has emphasised that the split is “amicable.”
Legal documents obtained by TheDirty.com, show that the latin heartthrob officially filed for divorce on December 16.
Last week the couple released a statement saying, “After much consideration, we have mutually and amicably decided to end our two year marriage.”
“We ask for privacy during this difficult process, and no further comments will be made from either one of us about this personal matter.”
Marc and Shannon wed in November 2014.
The couple are yet to explain the demise of their union however, a source recently spoke with People magazine about what may have led to the split.
The source said: “Marc is so busy with his career, touring and recording that he distances himself from his relationships without even knowing it. Even with his wife in tow, she can feel like he is on another planet. Marc likes to have a woman at home but he also likes to live like a bachelor. This doesn’t work for very long.”

The news of Marc’s divorce comes just one day after ex-wife and musician Jennifer Lopez, 47, seemingly confirmed her new relationship with rapper Drake, 30.
Adding fuel to an already blazing fire, Hollywood’s hottest almost-couple affirmed their relationship, with each rapper sharing a loved-up picture on their official Instagram pages.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the pair simultaneously hit “publish,” deciding to forgo formalities by leaving the caption section of the upload blank.
However, their beyond-intimate pose seems enough to confirm their tryst and put rumours to rest.

The photo has already received 1.5 million likes from Drake fans, while J.Lo followers have double-tapped 993,000 times.
Judging by those likes, the public are cheering for this couple!
We can be sure that neither pair will recieve a like from fellow rapper, Rihanna, 28, who chose to unfollow the duo on Instagram earlier this week.
Fans are speculating that the social media faux-pas was sparked by Rihanna’s previous on-again-off-again relationship with Drake.
