Speaking to A Current Affair, Zoe Hendrix and Alex Garner revealed that despite the sleepless nights they are seriously smitten with the newborn daughter, Harper-Rose.

“No words can really describe it. Everyone tells you it’s the most amazing thing. But I can’t literally put into words when your child is there and the three of us are finally together and you’ve gone through such a journey,” an overjoyed Alex said.

The couple’s road to parenthood was fraught with heartbreak after they suffered a miscarriage but since welcoming their daughter on November 14, they haven’t stopped smiling.

However, Harper-Rose’s delivery was far from smooth with Zoe in labour for 12 hours and Harper being born with the umbilical cord around her neck.

“In the last two hours Zoe was pushing as hard as she could, but unfortunately we had an issue where the umbilical was wrapped around the baby’s head twice,” the new dad revealed.

“There was no crying… [Zoe] didn’t know. She was in so much pain I didn’t want to tell her. She was rushed over to the little cot and it would have been a good minute [before she cried]. 12 people gushed into the room,” Alex recalled of the horrifying few minutes before their baby started crying.

As Alex has returned back to full-time work, Zoe is on the night shift duty and tending to her little girl as she wakes up almost every two hours.

But she wouldn’t have it any other way and still can’t believe how well her blind marriage on Channel Nine dating show ended up.

“I think it would be a crazy dream to think you can go on a reality TV show and actually meet someone and fall in love and have a family. If you told me that before, I would have said you’re crazy!” Zoe mused.

Zoe and Alex first introduced their darling daughter to *Woman’s Day last month.

“This moment has been a long time coming,” 27-year-old Zoe told us at the time. “I still can’t believe she’s here.”

“Sitting here holding something so precious – that is a part of me, that is my blood – is something I’ve always dreamt of, and I will cherish it forever.”
