Sean Penn and Madonna have fuelled speculation that they’re definitely back together, despite splitting more than 25 years ago.
The ex-lovers, who were married fro 1985 to 1989, attended the Help Haiti Home Gala arm in arm.
The 56-year-old pop icon took to the stage during the event to perform La Vie en Rose while strumming her ukulele. But guests were more focused on the star’s sweet declaration of love to her ex-husband.
Describing her first visit to Haiti with Sean two years ago, Madonna said, “Everywhere he went, people just, the crowds just parted, and it wasn’t because he’s a movie star and it’s not because he was carrying six guns. It’s because he put his heart and soul into this and with the help of so many people around the world and in this room.”
She added, “So I want to say that, Sean, I love you. From the moment that I laid eyes on you. And I still love you, just the same. I just wish you would stop smoking so many cigarettes.”
Her touching tribute comes after reports that the pair has been seen on several dates as far back as November.
Sean, who recently split from actress Charlize Theron, has also been seen front row at two of Madonna’s concerts.
Meanwhile, the 55-year-old actor has also grabbed headlines of a different this week after it was revealed he interviewed Mexican drug lord and prison escapee El Chapo.
The interview was done for Rolling Stone and also featured Mexican actress Kate de Castillo. Now the pair are under investigation, Mexican authorities told ABC News.
Despite the controversy, Sean didn’t seem troubled at Saturday night’s benefit. He was also joined by Madonna’s son David Banda, 10, and daughter Mercy James,9.
