Papa don’t preach, because your prayers for a Madonna biopic have been answered.
Well that is if you’d had your fingers crossed that one was coming.
Yep, it’s been revealed that Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to a biopic about the singer, currently titled Blond Ambition.
Hollywood hotshots Brett Ratner (the man behind the X-Men movies) and Michael De Luca (who kindly gave us 50 Shades of Grey) are set to produce the film, which has been written by first-time screenwriter Elyse Hollander.
Set in the early 80’s it will follow Madonna’s early career after she made the move from her hometown of Detroit to New York City to pursue a career in dancing and singing. The film will explore her rise to fame and of course the details of her juicy love life.
“It was hard and it was lonely, and I had to dare myself every day to keep going,” the now mother-of-six has said of her first years in Manhattan.
“New York wasn’t everything I thought it would be. It did not welcome me with open arms. The first year, I was held up at gunpoint. Raped on the roof of a building I was dragged up to with a knife in my back.”
While casting has yet to be announced, our vote goes to Paris Jackson. Michael Jackson’s daughter is eager to kickstart her acting career and she even drew comparisons to a young Madonna in a Chanel photo shoot in January.
But it appears that the Vogue singer hasn’t given the movie her tick of approval.
Yep, Madge, 58, posted a throwback pic of herself on Instagram after the news was announced, which she captioned “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story.” Ouch!
“Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool looking for instant gratification without doing the work,” she added. “This is a disease in our society.”
Sorry Madge you might not be on board but we sure are!
