It hasn’t been long since her split from MasterChef judge Shannon Bennett, but actress Madeleine West kept it candid when an interview turned the subject to relationships.
Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O on their breakfast radio show to promote her new Aussie drama, Playing For Keeps, the actress talked about her character’s open marriage and was very down-to-earth about it all in the process.
“You guys know what it’s like when you’ve been in a relationship for many many many years, some things get a bit stale. It’s like having a stale crust on the bread, you just cut that off and you outsource.”
“So long as there is communication and a bit of autonomy and you’re clear with each other that ‘these are the boundaries, this is what we’re happy to do,’ and beyond that, it gets a little bit dicey.”
Madeleine plays Kath Rickards in the new drama who she describes as “Queen of the Wags.” In the show, Kath is having an affair with an escort and her husband also has someone on the side.

But when quizzed if this was something she’d do in her personal life, Madeleine declared straight away that it’s not her style.
“I think it would work for a period, but at some stage, S-H-I-T is going to hit the fan,” she replied.
“If you’re in a relationship with a piece of fluff on the side, at some point emotions are going to get involved and that’s when it becomes a bit tenuous, that’s when you’re skating on thin ice.”
It’s been a tough year for Madeleine personally after Woman’s Day previously reported that she and husband Shannon Bennett ended their relationship in July.
This was less than a year after the Melbourne-based parents-of-six splashed $19 million for a lavish Toorak mansion.
