The 34-year-old kept a downcast gaze as he appeared at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday morning for the ruling.
Luke was found guilty of mid-range drink driving and has had his licence suspended for the next year.
The bubbly presenter, who pleaded guilty to the charges, was also handed a $700 fine.
The incident occurred on May 31 after Luke – real name Luke Ashwood – was pulled over in Sydney’s Moore Park with a blood alcohol level of 0.116, over double the 0.05 legal limit.
It’s the stars second drink driving offence in the last ten years, which did not sit well with Magistrate Alexander Mijovich.
“The reality of it is I’m dealing with a serial offender. Here you are 10 years later committing the same offence,” the Magistrate cautioned.
Luke had spent the evening before the incident drinking with his father, who he claimed was is in a “deteriorating state” with his health, before heading to the Golden Century restaurant in Sussex Street for more booze with family and friends.
It’s believed the former Home And Away star had consumed around four glasses of white wine and three beers.
Despite catching a taxi home Luke, who admitted to drinking a glass of wine before bed, slept for seven-and-a-half hours and was still extremely over the limit the next morning when he got behind the wheel.
In a statement, the Sydney local said: “I couldn’t be more regretful and apologetic.”
“My decision to drive my car the morning after a late dinner with friends is a wake-up call.”
This is no doubt yet another heavy blow to the star after he called time with his girlfriend Katie Hansen in May.
On Monday, Luke seemed to be preparing for a year without his licence and took to social media to share a selfie with his Uber driver.
“Nicest #UBER driver in Sydney! Thanks Chung, you brightened up my day!!!,” he captioned the shot.
