Jason Dundas has been announced as the new host of Channel Seven’s X Factor, replacing Luke Jacobz.
Luke, who had been hosting the reality show since 2010, is making his departure to try his luck acting in Hollywood.
According to his agent Chic Management, the 35-year-old actor is “currently residing in Los Angeles” after making the decision to leave the show himself.
“In 2015 Luke made the difficult decision to bid farewell to his X Factor family in order to relocate to the US to study and focus on his acting,” his rep said.
Luke was brought in to host the show after Matthew Newton was given the boot at the last minute ahead of the launch for his indiscretions.
Meanwhile, Luke has had his fair share of controversy, having been slapped with his second drink driving charge in July 2015.
The actor – who was pulled over in Sydney’s Moore Park with a blood alcohol level of 0.116 – over double the 0.05 legal limit – was dubbed a “serial offender” by the magistrate presiding over his case.
“The reality of it is I’m dealing with a serial offender. Here you are 10 years later committing the same offence,” Magistrate Alexander Mijovich said at the time.

Luke’s replacement is most well-known for his work on the runway for David Jones as well as his role on US show Entertainment Tonight.
“My career as a television host all started from winning a contest so I know how life-changing a show like this can be,” the 33-year-old said of his new gig.
“It’s also great that I will be home for a bit after a few years of being based in the US.”
