Liv Tyler has revealed her unusual choice of baby name for her newborn son, Sailor Gene Gardner, nine days after welcoming the baby with partner Dave Gardner.
Liv shared the new baby name on Instagram, writing “Sailor Gene Gardner” as a caption on a snap of the newborn’s hand holding a pendant featuring an anchor motif – no doubt a symbol of the newborn’s nautical new name.
The baby’s father posted a similar snap of the newborn’s hand, minus the pendant, on Valentine’s Day, a couple of days after the baby arrived. He wrote: “Our little one has arrived…Beautiful baby boy…Happy Valentines Day.”
Liv, 37, and Dave welcomed their little bundle of joy just in time for Valentine’s Day, six and a half weeks earlier than her due date, with her representative confirming the news to People magazine.
“He’s healthy and everyone is very happy,” the rep said.
While this is the first child that Liv and Dave have together, they each already have a child from previous marriages.
Liv has son Milo,10, with her ex-husband, British rocker Royston Langdon, while Dave also has a son, seven-year-old Grey, by his ex-wife Davinia Taylor.
Liv unveiled the new baby name by posting a picture of her newborn son’s hand cradling an anchor pendant – a tribute to his name Sailor. His Dad Dave Gardner also posted a snap of the newborn’s hand on Valentine’s Day.
Dave, another Brit, is a sports agent and social high-flyer who is also best pals with David Beckham.
The pair were introduced by their mutual friend supermodel Kate Moss and were seen holidaying together with Kate and her hubby Jamie Hince in Spain earlier in Liv’s pregnancy.
Liv seemed very eager to conceal her growing bump in the early days until sources confirmed that she was expecting in September.
