The legal proceeding will investigate Brittany Higgins’ claims that while she was working as a Liberal staff member, her at-the-time colleague Bruce Lahrmann raped her in former defence minister Linda Reynold’s office inside the Parliament House on March 23, 2019.

Bruce has denied the allegations and has pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

It’s believed Lisa has been provided some guidelines by the network in order to avoid legal risks.

Lisa will not be reading the headlines for the period the trial features in the news and will not appear on The Project on the days she provides evidence, according to The Australian.

However, Lisa will appear on the program when she can on Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

The Project co-hosts have also been instructed to not discuss the trial aside from reading out the news headlines.

Lisa has been called as a witness following Brittany was reportedly approached by her husband Peter FitzSimons – during an event in early 2021 – who then suggested Brittany write a biography.

Brittany told the court that Peter said: “You need to write a book”. The book deal is worth more than $320,000.

“[Mr FitzSimons said he] would act as my agent, and I said ”sure” and within a day he came back with offers,” she told the court.

Bruce’s lawyers have also asked Brittany about a recorded conversation with Lisa, in which her partner could be heard discussing the timeline of when the alleged assault story would be released.

The Project host is among 52 witnesses set to appear at the trial including coalition senators Linda Reynolds and Michaelia Cash, News Corp journalist Samantha Maiden and numerous others.

The ACT Supreme Court trial commenced on October 4 and it’s expected the legal proceeding will last between four to six weeks.
