Lisa’s noticeable absence from The Project‘s main panel a month after winning the TV WEEK Logie Award raised eyebrows across the country earlier this week.

The journalist was expected to return to the desk on Sunday night after taking time off in mid-June, but her absence sent tongues wagging.

The Australian’s Media Diary column revealed the 62-year-old flew to the States over the weekend and won’t be back on the panel until late August.

Lisa won a Silver Logie at the awards show.

Lisa will conduct interviews and create packaged stories for The Project from Los Angeles and New York.

The stories were booked before her Logies speech, and once she files the interviews, the mother-of-three will take extra leave.

On Tuesday, Network 10 announced Studio 10 host Sarah Harris, radio presenter Rachel Corbett and Flash presenter Georgie Tunny will fill in for Lisa on alternate nights while she’s away.

They will be joined by regular hosts Waleed Aly, Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar.

Lisa has made two notable appearances since the awards show.

In early July, her pre-recorded interview with Olympic swimmer Michael Klim aired on The Project.

They discussed the world champion’s battle living with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy disorder.

‘I’ve gone through phases where I even drank too much and tried to numb the pain,” he told Lisa.

“I give myself about an hour a day to feel sorry and angry and frustrated and whatever else or what other emotion comes into my mind, and then move on with the rest of life.”

The morning show was celebrating 40 years on air, and she shared this message, “A big piece of my heart with always stay right there with the Today show family and all the years we spent together at breakfast.”

Lisa left Today for The Project on October 16, 2017, after a lengthy contract dispute with nine over a gender pay gap with Karl.

She was on the network for ten years.
