Proud parents Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny couldn’t be more thrilled to hear of their daughter Morgan Kenny’s happy engagement news!
Although separated for the past five years, Lisa and Grant have never divorced and always remained close for the sake of the family.
So when their gorgeous middle child, 25-year-old Morgan, announced she is marrying high-school sweetheart Ryan Gruell, they were understandably over the moon, and excited at the prospect of walking her down the aisle.
Former Olympian Lisa couldn’t hide her delight and took to Facebook to gush over former soldier Ryan, who she often refers to as “child number four”, welcoming him to the family.
“Celebrating the engagement of our beautiful daughter Morgan to the most caring, kind and wonderful young man Ryan Gruell. Congratulations to the beautiful couple and welcome to our family.”
Ryan has been overwhelmed with the support he received from his fiancee’s family. “Your kind words mean so much and I cannot express how excited I am to be a part of such an amazing family,” says Ryan, who bears a striking resemblance to a younger Grant.
Ryan also hails from from the small beachside town of Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast, but it wasn’t until dancer Morgan landed her dream role at the Moulin Rouge in Paris in 2011 that their relationship took a more serious turn.
“It was a dream come true for Morgan,” says a friend.
“But of course it was bittersweet because she had to leave Ryan behind.”
A family insider told Woman’s Day that: “He went to visit her every opportunity he could and whenever she had time off they went travelling together.”
Left: Morgan Kenny has been living it up in Paris in her role as a dancer at the Moulin Rouge. Right: Mum Lisa has flown over to Europe to visit and travel with her baby girl at every opportunity.
Keeping in regular contact, the young couple’s relationship blossomed despite the distance, eventually making them stronger than ever.
“Lisa and Grant both adore Ryan and already treat him like part of the family,” a friend tells Woman’s Day.
It sounds like both parents couldn’t be more thrilled and are already gearing up to ensure the couple’s big day is a grand affair!
“Grant couldn’t be happier. Morgan will always be his little girl but he is looking forward to the day and has apparently insisted no expense will be spared to make it a day she will remember forever.”
