Liev Schreiber and his son are the real superheroes at Comic-Con

The young boy's costume is perfect in so many ways.

Liev Schreiber has proven he’s the real superhero after taking the sons he shares with ex-wife Naomi Watts to Comic-Con.

However, that in itself isn’t what’s causing the stir – it’s their costumes.

Notably, it’s not nine-year-old Alexander’s Jedi outfit that has people talking, but eight-year-old Samuel’s decision to emulate Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad.

The 49-year-old dad is being heaped with praise on the internet for not batting an eye at his son’s costume choice, which was painstakingly accurate with peroxide blonde wig, fishnet stockings and mismatched colourful ponytails.

But because it’s 2017, there was some backlash to the outfit choice. Some were unhappy because he was dressed as a girl character, but others deemed the outfit too sexy for an eight-year-old regardless of their gender.

Meanwhile on Reddit, punters were happy with his commitment to the outfit, but had real issues with the garbage truck in the background…

Both Schreiber and Watts are yet to comment on the response – probably because there’s nothing strange about little boys dressing up as their favourite characters and, with Schreiber wearing makeup and dressing up in different costumes every day for work, it’s probably not that high on the radar.

The couple, who announced their separation in September last year, were both at the convention to promote upcoming projects – Schreiber’s reboot of My Little Pony and Watts for Twin Peaks.

More and more celebrities are being praised for their appreciation of gender fluidity.

Recently, Jennifer Lopez shared a picture of her sister’s second child and referred to them throughout the caption using the pronoun “they” – a pronoun preferred by some individuals who neither identify as solely male or female.

“This is Brendan my sister Leslie’s second child!! They were the one person selected to represent their school at #globalyoungleadersconference in Washington DC!!!” the singer wrote.

“And I couldn’t be more proud!!! Brendan is strong and smart and loving and a obviously a leader!! Titi Jenn loves you!!”

Hats off to Schreiber for not standing in the way of his son’s fun but can someone please attend to that rubbish truck…
