Former Olympian Libby Trickett has shared her exciting baby news.
Libby announced the new that she and husband Luke are expecting their first child together by sharing the amazing ultrasound photo via social media.
“Luke and I are very excited to announce that we will be welcoming a little baby Trickett into the world in September!” she announced.
“The anticipation and excitement I feel for this is a thousand times greater than I felt for swimming,” Libby told the Daily Telegraph.
“I loved competing but I’ve always wanted to have children and I get to share this with my best friend, so it’s more exhilarating on a private level.”
Libby has also revealed the difficulties that she and Luke suffered on their journey to become parents as they conceived last year before suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage in August.
“Luke dealt with it in a far more logical and reasonable way but it really knocked me around. I was only eight weeks pregnant but you don’t realise how attached you become to the prospect of motherhood in that time. As an athlete I knew I had to pick myself up and move on, but miscarriage can touch you in a way you might not expect because there’s a possibility of a life.
“The baby would’ve been due on March 25 so I know I’ll feel it on the day. The key is to acknowledge that loss and not try to push it away.”
The four-time Olympic gold medalist and her husband are expecting their little one to arrive in September this year – many congratulations to the happy couple!
