Ahead of Fatherโ€™s Day in Australia, Sunday, September 3rd, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have announced a winner of their โ€˜Doggy Dad of the Yearโ€™ award.

This year the honour went to the steamy-hot actor and animal activist, Liam Hemsworth.

The actor and partner of Miley Cyrus famously rescued his animal companions, Tani and Dora, from a shelter and is a huge advocate of animal adoption, saying, โ€œIf youโ€™re going to get a dog, get a rescue.โ€

Oh heck, and one more!

Weโ€™re not even sorry!

โ€œAs any guardian of a rescued animal knows, no pedigree is equal to the joy you get from giving a homeless animal a happy life,โ€ says PETA Associate Director of Campaigns Ashley Fruno. โ€œNot only has Liam Hemsworth saved the lives of Tani and Dora, heโ€™s also inspired countless people to go to their local shelter and adopt.โ€

Hemsworth, who is also a passionate vegan, frequently shares photos of his furry family on his Instagram account with the hashtag #rescuedogs.
