The The Revenant actor has revealed that he’s planning a trip somewhere new – to a whole new planet, in fact.

During a discussion at the South By South Lawn talk at the White House on Monday, the actor was engaged in a panel talk with President Obama and climate scientist Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, who joked that it is important for us all to preserve our planet, since moving to Mars – as part of an off-world project being championed by the likes of entrepreneur Elon Musk – isn’t necessarily viable.

“If you’re a human living on this planet – which most of us are, yeah?” She said, “As long as we haven’t signed up for the trip to Mars – I don’t want to know if anyone has – I think you’re crazy”.

To which Leo replied, offhandedly: “I did.”

“I think he’ll acknowledge he’s crazy,” Obama added.

Leonardo has already ticked an Oscar win off his bucket list.

Just recently Elon Musk, who is currently focusing his efforts on the SpaceX initiative, admitted that anyone who signed up should be prepared to die.

And we are certainly not prepared for planet Earth to be without Leonardo!

Interestingly, Matt Damon recently portrayed an astronaut who was left on Mars in film The Martian.

He was nominated for Best Actor for his role in the movie, but ultimately lost out to DiCaprio, who won the award for his role in The Revenant.

A source close to DiCaprio has since told Cosmopolitan that the actor was only joking about going to Mars, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief and stay safe in the knowledge that Leo will be firmly on the third planet from the sun for the foreseeable.
