A source close to the couple have confirmed to Us Weekly that the pair decided to go separate ways earlier this month. The insider also told the US publication that, sadly, the “blindsided” Lea isn’t taking it well.

“He had enough,” the insider said. “She was completely crushed.”

On the possibility of the couple reconciling, the source added: “He won’t take her back,”

The break up comes as a bit of a shock to all, considering that it was only last month that Lea opened up about her 30-year-old beau during a Fempire podcast.

“He is very respectful for the person that I was with. And that again is something I love so much about him and I really know that Cory would love him too.”

Cory and Lea share a loved-up moment in 2012.

It’s been a rough couple of years for the brunette beauty, who tragically lost her ex-boyfriend, Cory Monteith to a combination alcohol and heroin overdose back in 2013.

The couple first met in 2009 on the feel-good show Glee, but their relationship wasn’t officially confirmed until mid-2012.

On her relationship with Cory, Lea said: “He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”

His passing was, of course, a devastating time in Lea’s life, but after receiving plenty of support from her friends and family, the singer was able to dive back into the dating pool.

The Scream Queens actress first met Matthew whilst filming her On My Way music video back in April 2014, and it wasn’t long before the pair were spotted getting close and taking romantic vacations.

But their relationship took a turn for the scandalous when it became public knowledge that the hunk had indeed previously worked as a gigolo, who reportedly charged up to $17,500 for a week of his company.

Matthew Paetz worked under the name ‘Christian’ during his time as a male escort.

Despite the tough nature of breakups, a close friend to Lea has revealed to People magazine that although she may now be single, she is by no means alone.

“Lea is surrounded by her friends, who have rallied around her and support her. She’s doing fine, focusing on her work, her music and her album.”
