She lives for her family and in a devastating new Instagram post, former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Lauren Brant has revealed the heartbreaking news her sister-in-law has been given just two years to live, following the return of an aggressive and incurable type of cancer.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the former Hi-5 children’s entertainer explained that her family were still in shock over the terminal prognosis.
“It absolutely breaks my heart that I am about to write these words, that this is real life… this photo was taken a few months ago in celebration of My beautiful sister Sandra, whom you know fought bowel cancer last year – which included undergoing life threatening emergency surgeries and wearing a stoma for 6 months,” Lauren explained, alongside a gorgeous photo with her sister-in-law which was captured earlier in the year.
Sandy, 40, who is Lauren’s brother’s wife, was called in last week for the results of her latest scan and was told the cancer had “come back more aggressively” and there was tragically no cure.
“Sandra’s immediate reaction was that of fear, of not seeing her children grow up, of leaving her high-school sweetheart husband behind. They had to then share the news with their children and the rest of our family… this week has been extremely hard & emotional,” the mother-of-two admitted.
However, after the initial impact of grief and fear, the family are now shifting their focus towards healing for the sake of Sandra’s two young children, daughter Allegra, 13, and son Connor, 14.
“The whole family have spent these last few days completely extracted from our physical life form, floating in the dimension of ‘helplessness’ while spending time together. As Sandra & the family slowly find our feet again, we are all shifting our energy into that of ‘healing’ – tuning into the frequency of a powerful mindset, in full consciousness,” the children’s entertainer continued.
Lauren signed off her heartbreaking post by asking her followers to send positive energy their way.
“The thing about a terminal cancer prognosis is, there are no answers… Sandra is navigating this journey through her inner warrior and has said she is really feeding off everyone’s positive energy this time round and feels like she needs it,” she wrote.
“So with that said, please raise the vibration of this healing energy with me? If you can really connect with your consciousness now and send a message of support straight from your sacred place of love, peace & joy to Sandra. I know it will all help. Thank you.”
The mother-of-two, who shares sons Miller, three, and Houston, one, with partner and former AFL player Barry Hall, also took to her Instagram Stories to share a series of emotional videos.
“I have been very absent this week on my social media and my physical life… It’s so hard for me to speak these words. My beautiful sister-in-law Sandra has just received the news that she has a really aggressive cancer that’s come back,” Lauren said.
“There’s no cure for it and they’ve given her a prognosis of just over two years to live,” a teary Lauren said, before revealing Sandra has been a part of her life since she was just three.
The singer first revealed Sandra had been diagnosed with third stage bowel cancer in July last year.
“Life is so precious & so unfair,” she said at the time.
After two surgeries, Sandra received several blood transfusions, had biopsies and was put into an induced coma.
“The third surgery left her with a stoma and when the results came back, Sandra, her husband & her two children were given the shattering news that she has 3rd Stage Bowel Cancer. We are finding out more about it everyday, but for now Sandra is focusing on recovering from the life threatening surgeries she has had this last week,” the star revealed via Instagram.
The last update Lauren gave of her sister-in-law’s health was in March, when things seemed to be looking up.
“There are some situations in life where you just have no words… and the fact that you, @sandrarbrant – absolutely kicked cancer in the butt with such effortless positivity – has brought me to one of those moments! I’m just so thankful that we have you, for who you are & for all the lessons you have taught me 🌻 I love you so much #cancerfree,” the children’s clothes designer said at the time.
We are sending so much love to Lauren, Sandra and their families.
