Aussie model Laura Wells has landed the cover of Spanish fashion magazine Yo Dona.
The size 14 model looks gorgeous on the September issue as she flaunts her voluptuous frame in the glossy in a high-waisted bikini kneeling provocatively in a swimming pool.
During an exclusive chat with The Weekly, the new face of Aussie Bodies says she’s delighted with seeing her mug on the European mag.
“I love it!” says Wells. “You know, at first I thought I was lucky to get it but then I thought ‘You know what, I’ve done so much hard work to get there and it’s finally paid off!'”
The international cover isn’t Wells first taste of career success. The 29-year-old signed on as a curvy ambassador for Berlei and is a fashion editorial favourite -she currently features in steamy lingerie editorial in the month’s Australian Cosmopolitan.
Wells says her years in the modelling industry have taught her to become accepting of her body and as the poster girl for healthy curves she says women struggling with body issues need to “forget about the stereotypes”.
“Ideals of beauty don’t really exist in the media because there is only a limited amount shown so just forget about that and work on being the healthiest and happiest you that you can,” she says.
The brunette beauty, who also moonlights as an environmental scientist, says that while she might rock a fuller figure than some of her modelling counterparts, fitness is still important to her daily routine.
“I’m really enjoying resistance workouts and crossfit. So high intensity but short work outs so that I can fit them in with a busy lifestyle.”
So what’s next for the Sydney-based model?
“I mean everyone would love to do a Vogue cover because it would be amazing in terms of showing beauty diversity,” Wells says. “But in other ways I feel like I’ve kind of achieved what I wanted to in terms of sending the messages of positive body image.”
Wells says she plans to jet off to New York in October to work with some exciting international brands which means there could be more magazine covers to come.
