TV personality Kylie Gillies has celebrated a huge milestone in her family – her youngest son’s high school graduation!
The mother-of-two took to Instagram to share sweet snaps with Archie, who attended his Valedictory ceremony as his final year of school at Sydney’s prestigious Newington College comes to an end.
“Congratulations Archie. Graduation Day. 🎓👨🏻🎓❤️ We’re so proud of you. And your mates,” she penned.
“A beautiful Valedictory Day shared with families who we have walked alongside these past six years. Dad, Gus and I were so happy to be there and share it with you.”
Alongside her sweet words, Kylie shared a video of herself hugging Archie, 17, following the ceremony.
The Morning Show host also shared a photo with Archie and her husband, fellow journalist Tony Gillies, captioned: “So many hugs. The end.”
Kylie and Tony share Archie and their eldest son Gus, 19. In April this year, Kylie exclusively opened up to Now To Love about her mixed emotions over Archie’s schooling coming to an end.
“I see the finish line of schooling in sight, and that makes me both very excited and very sad. Oh my God, it’s going to be the end of an era,” she said.
Kylie also talked candidly about juggling life as a working mother of two kids in a chat with Good Health in 2020.
“My weekends and weeknights are full of the boys’ sports events,” she said.
“Being a mum to teens is terrific, but it’s busy. It’s hard to keep up. It’s a full-time job, coupled with my full-time TV job!”
However, even though motherhood is a tough gig at times, she revealed that she dreads the day her sons leave the nest.
Although the very real prospect of not having her sons under one roof is daunting, she finds leaning on her mum friends a great source of comfort.
Kylie admitted to turning to her colleagues Ann Sanders and Natalie Barr, who have boys older than Gus and Archie.
“I was seeking wisdom from women who’d ‘been there, done that.’ I’d be lost without my ‘boy-mum’ friends,” she admitted.
The journalist may want her kids home, but in November 2021, Kylie was thrilled to share with her friends and fans that her youngest finally passed his driving test.
Taking to her Instagram, the 55-year-old revelled in the fact she no longer had to drive him around after he received his P1 licence.
“Mum’s taxi is officially parked,” she said. “I don’t know whether to be happy. Or cry. Maybe both?”
