The 34-year-old mum to North West reportedly underwent IVF treatment allowing her to choose the gender of her second child.
“She only had boy embryos implanted,” a source close to Kim told Us Weekly.
The procedure that predetermines the child’s sex can start at roughly $US17,000 and it entails the doctor isolating fertilised embryos of the preferred sex in a lab, then placing them into the uterus.
Earlier this week, Kim confirmed she was expecting a baby boy in classic Kardashian style – via an Instagram post.

The proud mum shared a snap of her hubby, Kanye West reading a story book to their daughter, North, with the caption:
“Precious moments like this when we were traveling on tour with you are what I live for. You’re such a good daddy to North & you will be the best daddy to our new son too!”
An insider close to the couple admitted that “Kanye and Kim are so excited to complete their family. Kanye loves Nori more than anything, but to make his world complete, he wanted a little boy, an heir.”
While a friend close to Kim revealed how happy the pregnant star “always wanted two kids. A girl and a boy.”
“Kim would have happily taken a healthy baby, but being able to choose the sex is the cherry on top,” they added.
The reality starlet has always been clear with her desire to expand her family.
“We are trying. We try every single day. You can’t try harder than we try,” she recently confessed to E! News.
Adding of her struggle: “It’s getting exhausting. He always says, ‘trying for baby number two isn’t as fun as trying to baby number one.”
