“You have to know your angles,” says Kim, commandeering my mobile and assuming her ideal pose. “Since my hair is parted this way, this would probably be the angle. I like my chin down and then it depends on the lighting.”
In Australia to promote her seventh fragrance, the rose-scented Fleur Fatale, the 34-year-old queen of reality TV gave The Weekly a one-on-one tutorial on the modern art of the mobile self-portrait – looking up at the phone, which is angled downwards. “You just look skinnier,” she explains, “when it’s up to down.”
According to Kim – who has a book of selfies, entitled Selfish, coming out next year – it usually takes 10 to 15 duds to hit on the one that is social media-worthy.
Since her first, at the age of four, Kim has taken thousands of selfies, but every image is apparently burnt on her brain.
“I remember in every single selfie where I was, what my hair and makeup was, what I was wearing, where I was going,” she says. “I have a really photographic memory. I just love memories.”
