Beloved Australian TV star Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s mother has died this morning, May 25.
The former Studio 10 host shared the heartbreaking news via her Instagram page with a beautiful tribute to the woman who raised her.
“This morning we lost our beautiful dancing queen, always elegant and graceful,” Kerri-Anne wrote alongside a heartwarming video of her mum dancing during Christmas Day celebrations.
“She is now up there dancing with dad and John. We will always love you Mum,” KAK reflected of her late husband John, who passed away in 2019, and her father.
The charismatic mother was 99 years old, just a few months short of her 100th birthday in September.
Kerri-Anne’s post was immediately flooded with comments from her friends and fans.
“Oh KAK. I am so so sorry. Her light shined so bright. Sending you so much love,” wrote fellow TV star Sally Obermeder.
“I’m so very sorry for your loss, heartfelt condolences to you and your family,” another follower wrote.
“Sending love Kerri-Anne. Your mother always looked so glamorous and like lots of fun. A bright light,” added another.
Kerri-Anne and her mother’s bond has always been clear.
A scroll through her Instagram will tell you as much, with the TV starlet sharing a number of candid pictures of her mother over the years.
In May 2020, Kerri-Anne shared a gorgeous snap of herself and her mother writing: “Mum has been through the depression, World War 2, gave a wonderful life to 4 kids and supported her devoted husband. At 98 her light still shines. Sending my love to the mums and motherly figures out there.”
In May 2018, Kerri-Anne shared another radiant snap for Mother’s Day and mused: “Everyday should be Mother’s Day,” she wrote before adding: “So much love to my laughing queen.”
The loss comes after the tragic death of Kerri-Anne’s husband John in 2019 after a long battle with his health after falling and becoming paralysed.
“It was a shock because I thought I would really have John for many, many, many years to come and a lot of things happened very quickly so it was a terrible shock,” she told audiences on Studio 10.
Our thoughts are again with Kerri-Anne and her family at this difficult time.
