Keith Urban has farewelled his father Robert, who passed away last week after a battle with cancer.
In a tribute to his late father, the 48-year-old star drove his dad’s treasured Lincoln Continental convertible to the church.
“I am so deeply grateful that Dad is not suffering anymore,” The Daily Telegraph Australia quoted Keith as telling mourners.
“I loved him so much and did not want him to suffer like he was towards the end… he now has given me all the peace that I need to create this new spiritual relationship with my father.”
The memorial service took place at the Gregson & Weight Chapel in Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, where Keith grew up.
Bob is survived by his wife Marienne, sons Shane and Keith, as well as his four grandchildren.
Keith previously thanked fans for their support in the wake of his father’s death in a statement.
“I’ve been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nicole and I, and our family, have received since my dad’s passing on Saturday night,” he said.
“His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace.”
Our thoughts are with you and your family, Keith.
