It’s all over – again – for John Mayer and Katy Perry!
The two, who started dating last June but split up for a month last August, have now called it quits a second time, a source told People magazine.
Katy, 28, and John, 35, had only recently been spotted arm-in-arm at the Grammy Awards, less than a month after John presented Katy with a large ruby ring on Valentine’s Day.
After their September reconciliation, the couple spent Christmas together, and John recently spoke about the pair’s relationship, saying that it was “very human” and even speculating on the idea of marriage.
But friends aren’t discounting yet another reunion: “It’s sad,” one source tells Us Weekly of the split, but adds. “It’s not over until it’s over. You have to see how things play out.”
Meanwhile, Katy’s ex-husband, comedian and well known womaniser Russell Brand, has claimed their brief marriage was doomed from the start.
The couple wed in an elaborate ceremony in India in October 2010 after a whirlwind romance. Russell filed for divorce in December 2011.
Joking around on radio with sidekick Matt Morgan and Oasis’s Noel Gallagher, Russell, 37, said: “Let me tell you a thing about marriage. Marriage is a bond that can last up to 14 months. This is a sacred 14-month arrangement. Begins on an elephant. Ends in a newspaper.”
“That marriage was shaky from the get-go, before I’d even got off the elephant.”
