The brunette star, 35, who moved back to Los Angeles recently with daughter, Suri, 8, is set to produce a new film about the challenges of being a single parent.
The project, which is based on the novel,All We Had by Annie Weatherwax, follows the journey of a mother and her 13-year-old daughter, who live in poverty.
Katie will also star in the film.
Co-producer Jane Rosenthal told the Hollywood Reporter that Katie “has such a clear vision for the book’s irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship”.
“Her passion for the material, along with [screenwriter] Josh Boone’s ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of every day life, will bring these characters to life,” she said.
