The Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle has given a tell-all interview to a British magazine about her and Prince William’s private life.
Gary Goldsmith, who was dubbed the “black sheep” of the Middleton clan after he was caught selling drugs to an undercover News of the World journalist in 2009, has spoken to Hello!, revealing he organised an “action-packed” holiday for the pair in 2006 and would “of course” play a role in the upbringing of their first child.
“They all had the Ibiza experience – from mud baths to nightclub Pacha, to learning how to mix music,” he says of Kate and William’s visit to the Spanish party island. “Carole told me afterwards they had a brilliant time.”
Gary, 47, who is the younger brother of the Duchess’s mother, Carole, invited the magazine into the luxurious Ibiza mansion where the royal couple stayed. The property is on the market for around $8.75 million.
Gary, a self-made millionaire, says he found William “incredibly charming and engaging” and “a real gentleman”.
He also tells the magazine the royal pair have real chemistry.
“When I saw them together you actually just thought, even if he wasn’t going to be the king, they would make a great couple. They were very, very good together,” he tells.
In the interview, Gary also reveals details of the relationship Kate – who returned to holiday at Gary’s villa after her brief split with William in 2007 – has with her younger sister Pippa.
“’They are different. Kate works really hard at everything. She is brilliant at whatever she turns her hand to, but works at it, throwing herself into everything. Whereas Pip, everything seems to come very easily.”
It seems we haven’t seen the last of Kate’s uncle in the spotlight. He now plans on writing a book of his memoirs.
