Ordinarily, a new haircut is barely worth more than a passing compliment. But when confronted with a royal whose locks have barely changed since before she married her prince, it’s bound to cause a buzz.

That’s exactly what happened when the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out of her limo at the Natural History Museum in London last week, peering coyly at her fans through a newly cut fringe. And as Kate entered the prestige event, it was clear that wasn’t all that had changed about the popular royal.

Trouble conceiving Despite the fact Kate still fitted into the $2000 Mulberry dress she wore this time last year, onlookers couldn’t help but wonder if the usually extremely slender 30-year-old hadn’t put on a kilogram or two – especially in her noticeably rounder, radiant face. And they’d be right. Woman’s Day’s exclusive sources confirm she’s relaxed her diet in a bid to gain weight, and get her body ready for a long-awaited baby!

It’s believed Kate has been trying to fall pregnant since Wills, also 30, returned from a tour of the Falkland Islands in March, but without luck. “They thought getting pregnant would be easier than this,” a source admits, adding that fertility experts have advised them that Kate should pile on a couple of kilos. “Kate was told in no uncertain terms that if she wanted to get pregnant, she’d help herself hugely by gaining weight,” a friend reveals to us. “Her aim has been to put back on the weight she lost before the royal wedding – and she’s almost there.”
