It was the news that took the world by surprise – the Queen included!
Traditionally she’s the first to know, but in a surprise move, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge waited only until it was absolutely necessary to tell the Queen, and other members of the Royal family, their happy news.
Only William and The Middletons were in on the secret, after Kate fell ill during a weekend trip to her family home in Berkshire.
It was only after the decision was made to admit Kate to hospital that the couple decided to inform The Queen and Prince Charles of their happy news.
“They were delighted,” an inside source told Britain’s the Daily Mail.
“The pregnancy is in its very early stages – the couple only found out very recently that they were expecting. But because she has been admitted to hospital and will have to stay in for a few days, they made the difficult decision to make things public.”
