When approached with a camera phone to send a message to KISS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O show, who were not in attendance at the event, Today show presenter Karl, 40, had a rather colourful message for infamous radio shock-jock Kyle.
“Jackie O, you should be here… Kyle… you should never be here, because you’re an absolute tosser!” Karl exclaimed before letting out a loud cackle and giving the camera a thumbs-up!
There are probably no genuine hard feelings between the pair, who caught up again on the radio show this morning, and recently collaborated on a comedy send-up video of the Rihanna-Kanye-Paul-McCartney single ’45 seconds’ along with Jackie O. Nonetheless it was a strong indicator that the popular Nine TV presenter had already gotten into the evening festivities with gusto, as is his infamous tradition!
The Logies is pretty renowned for the free-flowing booze at the event that has caused many a star stumble or fall, but perhaps the most notorious of its victims is Karl Stefanovic – who usually has to get up and host a show directly in the early morning after. There was one particular incident, in 2009 when Karl appeared to still be in rather giddy spirits after attending the event and slurred his words and got the giggles as he presented.
He’s since looked back on it laughingly and admitted in an interview to being “really drunk” at the time.
Karl Stefanovic appeared to be having a riot on the red carpet, alongside his co-host Lisa Wilkinson.
This year though, he appeared to pull up ok the following morning on air alongside Lisa Wilkinson, however he did surprise everyone by declaring that he’d be giving up alcohol for Dry July.
“It’s probably going to shock some of you but after ten years on the Today Show I need to clear my head and resign…myself from drinking for a whole month,” he said, cheekily adding a pause to keep everyone in suspense.
“That’s right, I’m doing Dry July. No alcohol for me for a whole month and it’s all for a good cause”.
“You don’t believe it, do you?” Karl said looking over at his colleagues. He appeared undeterred by their cynicism though.
“It’s happening!” he said confidently.
It should be noted though that Karl also refused a breathalyser test when he appeared on the Kyle and Jackie O Show this morning, saying “I won’t be doing that”.
Oh Karl! You do you, Karl, you do you.
