The COVID19 pandemic has had extreme ramifications around the globe – but perhaps one of the hardest impacts is the separation of families.

Today star Karl Stefanovic, who lives in Sydney, knows all too well the struggle of being separated from loved ones with his mother Jenny based in Cairns, Queensland, the grandmother has missed out on getting to meet her newest granddaughter, five-month-old Harper Stefanovic.

But this week, Karl and his 70-year-old mother were finally reunited after months apart.

“My mum lives in Cairns. Covid stopped her from seeing our baby Harper. She was scared to come down initially. She didn’t want to get it. She didn’t want to fly,” the 46-year-old explained alongside a touching photo of Jenny cuddling Harper and giving her a piece of lavender.

“But last week she drove 2500 kilometres to be with us. She’s had enough. A fierce beautiful magnificent independent vulnerable spiritual woman. Here she is presenting her grand daughter with my grand mother’s favourite flower. She is my mum. I love her,” the father-of-four signed off his sweet post.
