They’ve spent an idyllic holiday season together, doting on eight-month-old daughter Harper and making the most of the Queensland sun.
But the summer loving is coming to an end for Karl Stefanovic and his wife of two years Jasmine Stefanovic, as the morning show host gears up for another year of early starts on Today, alongside his co-host Allison Langdon.
It’s a reality with which Karl, 46, is all too familiar, but this time it’s going to be harder than ever before to start the new ratings season, as the TV larrikin comes to terms with the fact that he’ll likely spend days away from his girls at a time.
“Jasmine will likely stay up at the beach house in Queensland permanently and Karl will return to work and their rental digs on Sydney’s north shore,” a source close to the father-of-four reveals.
“The plan is they will buy a small bolthole in Sydney and Karl will commute between Sydney and Noosa. The balance and juggling act will be interesting this year.”
For Jasmine, 36, who is said to be desperate for another baby, parenting without her husband by her side is far from her dream.
“Karl has been a real hands-on dad, especially over these holidays. She’s really going to miss having him around, even though they have no choice,” another friend tells.
“He’s been photographed from coast to coast tending to young Harper, and Jasmine loves that he’s so involved.”
Now, after a summer spent watching Harper learn to crawl and splash about in the sea, Karl will likely miss out on many of her special milestones.
“The sad thing is, as any parent knows, there’s not a more precious time with a baby than when they first wake up in the morning – when Karl will be at work,” our source tells.
“They’re happy, rested, and all they want to do is have their bottle and laugh and play!”
